X-mas Camp Berninapass CH

25.-30.12.2010

About the spot:

The Berninapass 2300m offers perfect conditions for all kind of kiters and levels. Just 20min drive from St. Moritzs’ jet set it’s the most famous snowkite spot in Switzerland and offers great kiting for beginner to experts. Big flat lakes for teaching and freestylers from where you get direct access to small rolling hills and further to the big mountains that make the experts grinning. Most common wind is north but works also on north east and south which are rare.

Advanced – did a course and know how to control a kite

Expert – kites very safe and controlled. Has own snowkite and uses it on a regular basis. Able to kite, jump, land, launch, pack
on his own.

Accommodation:

Half board accommodation is 5min drive from the spot on top of the pass road in the Hospiz http://www.bernina-hospiz.ch/ . It’s an awesome place and Emanule (manager) and Kurtl (Chief) make you feel like at home with very yummy food and drinks. We also have a big lounge with table top football, flipper, TV where we can hang out in the evenings and chill. Rooms are for 4-6 persons (toilet and bath room on floor) with an extra charge you can also book a 2 bed room with bath room and toilet included.

Timetable:

25th December:
Is the day you arrive at the Hospiz, find your rooms and have a look at the spot. We meet at 6pm in the restaurant downstairs for a welcome drink, to get known each other and a short briefing before we have dinner.

26th December:
After breakfast around 10am we will have a big briefing in the lounge where we will introduce you to the different spots at Bernina, tell you about the weather, wind and snow conditions, safety etc. Then we head on to the spot and go kiting so you can get used to the terrain and discover already. Intermediate to expert riders will go for the first tour – depending on the conditions. Beginners will practice on the flat.
After riding all day we usually go back to the Hospiz around 5 to 6pm for a hot shower (you will need it badly) and big yummy dinner (you’ll need it too). In the evening we can discuss the day and make plans for the upcoming sessions.

27th – 30th December:
Obviously we go kiting as much as we can. If the conditions are off we can go to the ski resort about 7min drive from the hospiz, do backcountry touring etc. The area around has loads to offer so we can discuss when it comes down to it. We can also organize a night in St. Moritz nightlife at some stage for those who have enough energy left to dance…
We will have our last session on the 30iest or depending on your transport you have to leave already.

As snowkiting depends a lot on the weather conditions plans can change. It’s all about being a team and make decisions together to get most fun out of the camp. We are flexible and if conditions are better on another spot we move there for that day but keep the Hospiz as our base.
